Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
This class features grappling techniques from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that are mainly used in sport Jiu-Jitsu and street self-defense. This class was designed to accommodate all students from those with little to no grappling experience to professionals and even champions. One of the most commonly cited concepts at Wrecking Ball MMA is the idea that there is no technique too simple or too difficult for ANY student to practice. Coaches Clint Blackburn and Justen Hamilton will often remind students that the beautiful thing about Jiu-Jitsu is that there is no prerequisite course. While it can seem intimidating to enter a class where students already have existing knowledge of the course material, that is what makes it so easy to learn! Every student at Wrecking Ball MMA is also an instructor in the sense that they are all expected to help out those with less experience and they are always happy to do so.
Through hard work and determination, students can also earn stripes and belt promotions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Wrecking Ball MMA to signify their progress. Coaches Clint Blackburn and Justen Hamilton are both certified Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors under professors Alex Embry (Alpha BJJ) and Dave Rosenmarkle (Gracie Veneration) respectively. Belt promotions will be given based on attendance, work ethic, skill development, and competition.
